Why we make paper cranes?
Paper Cranes are a symbol of peace.
Hiroshima peace park 8000
Our school takes 1000 paper cranes each time we visit Japan. So far that's over 8000 cranes!
2013 Julia Gillard 1000
In 2012, students from Hiroshima sent 1000 paper cranes to the leaders of each UN member state. We added another 1000 cranes to those presented to Julia Gillard.
2013 Fukushima students

10 months after the great east Japan earthquake, our teacher took our messages to 6 schools in Fukushima. Students from those school came to Melbourne and visited us. We made 6000 paper cranes because they came from 6 different schools.

Hiroshima peace concert 1000
We were invited to Riddels Creek to meet Greens senator Janet Rice, who signed the appeal we sent to Bill Shorten.
To commemorate 70 years since the of bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we sent a petition with over 1000 signatures together with1000 paper cranes to Bill Shorten.
For the annual Peace Concert on Hiroshima Day 2013 in Melbourne, we made 1000 papaer cranes for Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble kids to take them back to Hiroshima Peace Park.
